Subject: September rescues

All of these rescues are currently vacationing in Brooksville or Spring Hill, Florida.  They are all just hanging out waiting for they new family to come and take them home.  All will be current on shots, heartworm, flea prevention, heartworm tested (if over 6 months of age), and microchipped before going to live with their new family.  There is a $150 adoption fee to cover all vet costs.  Also, attached is an application if you or someone you know would like to apply to adopt one of these little angels

We have many more waiting for a vacancy to open up.

***************************************************

Meet Jazz, (looks like a Lhaso Apso on steroids)  He is approx. 2 y.o., about 40 lbs.  Jazz loves to run and chase balls, needs a secure fence as he will run until there is no place else to go.  Was abused by kids, so no kids, please.  He is loving and faithful and loves to be brushed.  Jazz is crate trained, house broken and a great watch dog and if there is a car door or trunk open, you'll find him waiting to go for a ride

***************************************************
Delta Burke is very happy with her figure, and has the most beautiful eyes and a sweet southern disposition.  She loves kids, gets along with small dogs and puppies are her favorites, but will not tolerate aggressive dogs.  Delta  loves to explore and shop around for new and exciting smells.

So, this older, overweight, sweet as can be girl is still waiting for her own home and her own bed.

***************************************************
Jackie is a little mix, of what we just don't know.  She is very energetic, and very cute.  Whenever there's a pile up of puppies playing, Jackie is always on top.  She is approx. 6 months old, 10 lbs., up to date on shots, waiting to be spayed and microchipped.

************************************************
Opie is a Yorkie/Silky mix.  He was picked up as a stray, and it's hard to believe, but nobody came looking for him.  Although he is very sweet, I would not recommend him for children.  He is a dominant little fellow with other male dogs, and was just recently neutered, so that will mellow out a bit.  Opie is approx. 6 years old, 10 lbs., up to date on shots.

************************************************
Memphis is a corgi mix puppy, approx. 4 1/2 mos. old, 10 lbs., with beautiful hazel eyes.  He is just such a lover, gets along with other dogs and loves children.  He is up to date on shots, and is waiting to be neutered and microchipped.

************************************************
Sebastian is possibly a corgi/beagle mix.  He is just the cutest little boy, loves to play with everyone, poor Miss Delta can't seem to get away from him.  He is approx. 4 1/2 mos. old, up to date on shots, waiting to be neutered and microchipped.  If there is anyone who does not care for Sebastian, he's totally unaware, as he believes everyone is here to love on him!  As you can see, it's hard to take a still picture of a constantly moving object.

************************************************
Ike is a corgi (yes, with a tail very small), actually looks like a toy German Shepherd.  He is just the best little guy ever.  He LOVES kids, plays with all of the puppies and will just follow you to the ends of the earth.  Still needs to be neutered, but is up to date on his shots.  Ike is around 3-4 years old and weighs 12 lbs.

************************************************
Missy has come a very long way.  She was found abandoned on St. George Island.  She is still very shy, but loves people, and adores children.  This girl has the most wonderful eyes - they have spots of gray through them.  When she's inside, you won't know she's there....outside, her tail is up her ears are forward and she runs and plays.  What a happy girl she is, oh, and did I mention that smile!!  Missy is heartworm positive and cannot be spayed at this time, but otherwise, she is healthy, happy and full of love and kisses.

                                    Before                           Now

************************************************
Allie was found in a preserve, abandoned, starving and tied to a fence.  She is a Walker Hound, and is very elegant.  She is 3-4 years old, 60 lbs., loves children, loves to run and is extremely intelligent.  Only took her a second to flip the latch on her gate and join the party!  She would make a great family dog, but make sure you have a secure yard, she is a hound and will follow that long, slender nose.

************************************************
Meet the youngest of our little angels.  These pups are 6 weeks old, there are 4 females and 1 male.  The last picture is a little girl, Hannah, she's the only one with any white on her.  These puppies are supposedly pug/terrier mixes.  They were brought to us when they were 10 days old, momma was depleted and couldn't produce enough milk.  Rather than let these babies die, we took them in and they've been hand raised by 3 wonderful moms.  Yes, I know they all look alike, and one little girl is very hard to keep still for photo op, but she looks like the others, honest.  They will be receiving their first shots this week, have been wormed regularly and are very, very healthy.  We estimate they will weigh under 20 lbs. full grown.

silence

Daily Good News: a service of CharityFocus

Let us be silent, that we may hear the whispers of the gods. --Henry David Thoreau

Inspiration of the Day:
When all is silent, what do you hear? The first widely observed national moment of silence occurred in Britain in 1919. For two minutes, switchboard operators declined to connect telephone calls, subway cars and factory wheels ground to a halt, and ordinary citizens held their tongues. Within 10 years, the somber annual tradition had grown so popular that the BBC began to air the sound of the silence. Authors George Prochnik and Garrett Keizer unravel surprisingly poignant perspectives on silence, from the red-eyed tree frog's ability to discern vibrations to theories on why iPods are so ubiquitous. In a world of noise, silence easily slips through the cracks. Prochnik and Keizer remind us of its unassuming yet powerful presence. "When we ourselves are in silence, we are speaking the language of the soul," Prochnik remarks. [ more ]

HEART FELT PLEA

I'm so sorry to once again ask for help for my friend Florence and the animals in her care, but these dire situations do happen every so often.  I wasn't asked to do this; it's of my own accord.
Journey's End is really in need of help right now.  I just spoke at length with Florence -- she is typically so strong, but she's 81 years old and continues to work hard up to 14 hours a day, 7 days a week  (despite paid employees these last few years).  She is still feeling the effects of a bout with bronchitis, which makes the stress of this financial situation even harder for her.
The recent Journey's End newsletter did not yield much in the way of donations, and things are pretty desperate right now  If you are able, even the smallest donation would be a help and so very appreciated.  It breaks my heart to hear Florence in tears -- no one is less deserving of being in such distress.  She has been totally selfless for decades to provide a loving and safe home for countless animals.
I can't do much to help beyond this.  Please help if you can, however little, and please forward this to your email list, in case others might help, too.   Please visit the link to see what beauty happens at the sanctuary.  And please pray for a miracle for Journey's End; they've happened before.
Many thanks and God bless -- Juli

ANIMAL WHISPERER

This Ranger is assigned to  prevent poaching around the wildlife refuge area of Lanseria, South  Africa . The way these animals interact with him is absolutely stunning!  The lions seem to know he’s there to protect them. His charm works with hyenas and lions too. Hyenas are usually vicious. Also, check out the pics taken in the river.
